PaceMaker plug-in for Winamp

Configuration

Open the PaceMaker configuration window by pushing the -button on PaceMaker window. The configuration window as beside appears.

Configuration options are divided into further categories of Register & Info, Misc, Sliders and Hotkeys. Click the tabs to activate different configuration pages.

"Register & Info" Configuration page

If the PaceMaker plug-in has been registered, this page shows the registrar information. If the plug-in hasn't been registered, a note and registering button are showed here as on the picture above.

  • Click here to Register! - button: Click this button to open PaceMaker registering window that guides you to register your copy of PaceMaker plug-in. See section Registering PaceMaker for more information on how and why to register the PaceMaker plug-in.

"Misc" configuration page

This configuration page controls various miscellaneous settings.

  • Reset the sound control settings for new songs in the Memorize mode: When PaceMaker is in memorize mode (i.e. "Memorize the above settings for each song" option is active on the PaceMaker window), this option defines what settings are used for a new song that is played for the first time and no earlier memorized settings are available:

    • If this option is checked, Tempo/Pitch/Speed settings are reset to zero for each new song

    • Otherwise use the same settings that were applied for the previous played song.

  • Reset the sound control settings when song changes: If this box is checked, PaceMaker resets the Tempo/Pitch/Speed settings each time when a new song starts playing. This settings doesn't have effect when PaceMaker is in memorize mode.

  • Enlarge the control window by zoom factor: This setting allows enlarging the control window if it appears too small on high-resolution displays. Default value of "1" corresponds to the original size, "2" as double the size in both width and height etc.

  • Vocal remove algorithm: This setting chooses the vocal removal algorithm. Vocal Removal capability suppresses the singing voice when "Remove Vocals" option is active on PaceMaker main window.

    • Basic: A simple algorithm that cancels the singing voice by subtracting the stereo channels from each other. The basic algorithm is very fast but destroys stereo effect and generally degrades bass sound.

    • Advanced (default): An improved algorithm that maintain stereo effect and generally sound much better than the basic algorithm. On some songs the advanced algorithm may however allow some singing voice to sound through.

    • Play Right Channel only: Plays only the right channel of the original track. This is for karaoke records that have instrumental-only version on right audio channel and vocals on the left audio channel.

    • Play Left Channel only: Plays only the left channel of the original track. This is for karaoke records that have instrumental-only version on left audio channel and vocals on the right audio channel.

"Sliders" configuration page

Note: These configuration settings are available for registered users only, otherwise a note that the plug-in isn't registered is shown on this page. Please see Registering PaceMaker for more information.

This configuration page controls PaceMaker tempo/pitch/speed slider behavior.

  • Slider Control Precision: Chooses how fine steps are used to adjust the Tempo/Pitch/Speed sliders (range between 0.01% to 10%).

  • Inc/dec button step: How much the arrow buttons at right-hand side of the sliders change the setting values.

  • PageUp/Down key step: How much the PageUp/Down buttons on keyboard change the slider position.

  • Scale min. range: Defines the slider range minimum values, default value is -50% for tempo/speed and -12 half-steps for pitch. These settings are useful for achieving improved slider control precision in case that excessive control values aren't needed.

  • Scale max. range: Defines the slider range maximum values, default value is 100% for tempo/speed and +12 half-steps for pitch. These settings are useful for either achieving improved slider control precision in case that excessive control values aren't needed, or a wider control range than by default.

Note: Max. range settings are up to 400% of tempo/pitch or 24 half-steps of pitch.

Note: User can also enter an arbitrary value to the Scale min/max range setting besides the choices offered in the drop-down list: Just click the number field to activate cursor and enter the new value on the keyboard.

"Hotkeys" configuration page

Note: These configuration settings are available for registered users only, otherwise a note that the plug-in isn't registered is shown on this page. Please see Registering PaceMaker for more information.

This configuration page configures the PaceMaker hotkeys. PaceMaker allows user to define versatile system-level keyboard shortcuts that enable quick control of the PaceMaker plug-in even while working with other Windows programs, as long as the PaceMaker plug-in is open on the background.

  • Show PaceMaker Window...: Check this box to make PaceMaker window appear on the Windows task bar as its own entry (see the picture below). This enables user to browse to the PaceMaker window with Window's ALT+TAB key sequence.

  • Hotkey combination to activate the PaceMaker window: Defines a hotkey combination that activates the PaceMaker window and brings it as topmost window. This allows quick access to the PaceMaker window while working with other programs. Notice that this option is allowed only when the above "Show PaceMaker Window..." option is active.

  • Configure Hotkeys: This button opens a hotkey configuration window that allows user to define system-level hotkey sequences for quick access of PaceMaker controls, see below.

Hotkey configuration window

Note: The hotkey capability and configurations are available for registered users only. Please see Registering PaceMaker for more information.

This window allows user to define up to 10 system-level hotkeys for PaceMaker control quick access. This window is brought up by pushing the Configure Hotkeys - button on the "Hotkeys" configuration page as described above.

This window has one checkbox and a grid of configurable hotkey entries, so that each of the grid rows define a single hotkey and its action.

  • Enable PaceMaker Quick Control Hotkeys: This checkbox can be used to quickly disable / enable the PaceMaker system-level hotkeys altogether.

Each row configures action of a single hotkey, divided into following columns:

  • Control: Chooses which of the PaceMaker sound controls this hotkey affects. Available alternatives are:

    • Tempo: Affects the Tempo control.

    • Pitch: Affects the Pitch control.

    • Speed: Affects the Speed control.

    • Reset: Resets Tempo/Pitch/Speed controls to their default values (zero).

    • None: Disables this hotkey entry.

  • Does what: Defines the action that results from pushing the hotkey combination. Available alternatives are:

    • Change by: Changes the chosen control slider setting by amount given on the "amount" column.

    • Set to: Sets the chosen control slider to position given on the "amount" column.

    • Reset: Resets the control to the default value (zero).

  • Amount: Defines the amount by how much or to what value the assigned control is changed when the hotkey combination is pushed.

  • Hotkey: Defines the hotkey combination that triggers the action. To change the hotkey combination, first activate this box and then push the desired key combination on the keyboard.

Notes:

  • Such Hotkey combinations that are already assigned for some other control use aren't accepted.

  • Defining such hotkey combination that launch other actions in other programs may result to unexpected actions.
